Terms of use
Draft for the beta — to be reviewed by a lawyer before public launch.
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
Provider: [COMPANY NAME] ("we", "us"). Contact: [CONTACT EMAIL]
These terms cover your use of the course app and its server during the free, invite-only beta. By creating an account you accept them. Please also read our Privacy notice.
1. The service
The app converts a language-learning PDF that you upload into a private course for your own study, using AI services, and offers an AI tutor for practice. It is free during the beta and is offered by invitation.
2. Your account
- Give a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You must be an adult, or have a parent or guardian's permission, and be allowed by law to use the service.
- Invitation codes are for you. Please do not pass them on.
3. Your books
By uploading a PDF you confirm that you own the book or are otherwise entitled to use this copy for your own study, and that using it as described here does not break the law or anyone's rights.
- Do not upload books you do not own or may not use, or material that is illegal.
- The courses we make are for your personal study only. Do not share, sell, publish or redistribute a course, its audio or the book.
- Courses are private to your account. We do not share them with other users.
- We may refuse or stop a conversion, for example if the file is not a language-learning book, is too large, or the daily limits are used up.
4. AI-generated content
Exercises, translations, explanations, audio and tutor feedback are produced by AI and may contain mistakes, including wrong answers, unnatural phrasing or errors in pronunciation. Treat them as study aids, not as authority. Please use "report a problem" when you spot something wrong, and the review editor to fix your own course. You are responsible for how you use the content.
5. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service: no attacks, scraping or automated bulk use, no attempts to break the limits, access other people's data, or use it to produce harmful or unlawful content. We may apply daily limits on uploads and AI calls.
6. Your content and our licence to process it
You keep your rights in your books and your writing. You give us permission to store and process them, and to send them to the providers named in the Privacy notice, only to run the service for you.
7. Privacy
How we handle your data is described in the Privacy notice. We record the version of these terms you accepted and when.
8. The beta
This is a beta. It may be slow, change, lose features or stop at any time, and we may delete beta data when it ends (we will try to warn you first). Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you.
9. Ending
You can stop at any time by deleting your courses or your account in the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk.
10. Liability
The service is provided "as is" during the beta, without promises that it will be available, accurate or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, and our total liability for the free beta is limited to the minimum the law requires. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited by law.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. When we make an important change we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version.
12. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION]. Questions: [COMPANY NAME], [CONTACT EMAIL].
